NOTES:
I make RECOMMENDATIONS as a PRIVATE CITIZEN, and NOT as a REPRSENTATIVE of any ORGANIZATION.
I DON’T ENDORSE! I “RECOMMEND”, looking for “BEST” or “BETTER” of OPTIONS
I may even “RECOMMEND w/ RELUCTANCE”, knowing one will win, & one political philosophy might “TILT” slightly BETTER than another.
If UNABLE to determine a “positive tilt” or inadequate info, I may state, “NONE”.
FEDERAL
GOVERNMENT
us congress
US Rep 38th Dist
This is one of the NEWSOM atrociously drawn Dist to favor DEMS to gain house seats. District is mostly in LA Co, but it does swing down to include parts of OC in Brea, Yorba Linda, Anaheim, and Placentia.
Recommendation:
PEDRO CASAS (R)
COMMENTS: Casas is a 29 yr retired U.S. Army Colonel, and a psychologist. He attended Catholic School, thru HS, then U of LaVerne, & has PHD from UCSB. He is SPOT-ON re: the issues that concerns us, Conservatives, and that I highlight in “Nancy’s Criteria” page. He believes allowing illegals a “pathway to citizenship”, is NOT right. Like, all others, they need to apply.
GOALS: He says, need to “work to SECURE OUR SOUTHERN BORDER, . . . IMMIGRATION REFORMS that prioritize National Security. . . .In sports, I advocate for fairness by ensuring that BIOLOGICAL MALES ONLY COMPETE against counterparts, . . . . and will address inflation promptly. To stimulate economic growth, I propose TAX CUTS, reduction of bureaucratic RED TAPE and EXCESSIVE REGULATIONS on small businesses, allowing the FREE MARKET to recalibrate itself. “
Tell all in the 38th to VOTE for PEDRO CASAS! He will make a TERRIFIC CONGRESSMAN for the 40th.
CASAS’s OPPONENT, Dem HILDA SOLIS, is a life-long LIBERAL DEM politician, who is infected w/incurable “Trump Derangement Syndrome” (TDS), hates ICE, is a pro-abort, who served as OBAMA’S Sec of Labor, and is supported by a ton of liberal and controlling unions, and endorsed by DEMOCRAT Party.
US Rep 40th Dist
NOTE: Under Prop 50 Redistricting, the boundaries for Dist 40, have been “INSANELY DRAWN” by Gov NEWSOM, and covers 3 counties (Orange, San Bernardino & Riverside). It now includes OC cities of: Yorba Linda, Anaheim Hills, Villa Park, Orange, Chino Hills, Tustin, Mission Viejo, Aliso Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, Lake Forest, Laguna Hills, Laguna Woods, and parts of Brea and Corona. It’s nuts for me in SO OC to have the same representative as one in living in Corona.
Recommendation:
KEN CALVERT (R)
(This is MY District!)
COMMENTS: Of 8 in PRIMARY, 2 Republican INCUMBENTS (YOUNG KIM and KEN CALVERT) emerged in the top 2 slots.
For various reason, I’m not a “fan” of either KIM or CALVERT. But, I give my recommendation to KEN CALVERT. While I think he has been in congress too long (33 yrs, we need term limits!)), CALVERT has consistently voted conservatively, and has been a solid TRUMP supporter. Additionally, w/ longevity, comes good committee assignments, an advantage. He is endorsed by Riverside Republican Party, REFORM CA, CA Republican Assembly, Lincoln Club of OC, State Senator TONY STRICKLAND, Assemblywoman KATE SANCHEZ, OC Supervisor DON WAGNER, RSM Mayor, TONY BEALL, and a slew of other known conservatives.
Congresswoman, YOUNG KIM (contrary campaign literature) has “NOT” always been a TRUMP supporter. During impeachment stuff in 1st term, KIM voted to “CENSURE” Pres Trump (though she stopped short in voting for his impeachment). And, some of her votes were NOT conservative.
US Rep 41th Dist
NOTE: Largely made up of cities in Riverside County, but now also includes few cities in Orange county, like Los Alamitos & Rossmoor, plus some LA County cities, too.
Recommendation:
MITCH CLEMMONS (R)
COMMENTS: Plumbing contractor that wants to help “drain the swamp”. Endorsed by Republican Party of OC (OCGOP), REFORM CA, and others. Need to flip this seat!
NOTE: Please DO NOT VOTE for “Left-Liberal, LINDA SANCHEZ, who moved from Dist 38 to run here. SANCHEZ aligns herself with the DSA (Democratic Socialist of America) in her votes. Example: She was AMONG 53 DEMOCRATS who VOTED “AGAINST” DECLARING IRAN the “WORLD’S LARGEST STATE SPONSOR of TERROR” on Mar 5, 2026.
US Rep 42nd Dist
NOTE: District spans coast, from Long Beach down to Huntington Beach and picks up part of Newport Beach.
Recommendation:
BRIAN BURLEY (R)
COMMENTS: Conservative “R” running against a very liberal incumbent. Endorsed by CA Republican Assembly, REFORM CA, OC Congress of Republicans, and others.
OPPONENT: Please DO NOT VOTE for very liberal Democrat, ROBT GARCIA, who is endorsed by liberal groups/individuals, including abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, Democrat Party, and is 1st openly Gay Immigrant in Congress.
US Rep 45th Dist
NOTE: 45th is based in ORANGE & LA Co’s. Includes Garden Grove, Westminster, Cerritos, Buena Park, Placentia, Hawaiian Gardens, Cypress, Fountain Valley, Artesia, Los Alamitos, Rossmoor, and La Palma, as well as parts of Brea, Lakewood & Fullerton.
Recommendation:
CHUONG VO (R)
COMMENTS: VO is an EXCELLENT candidate, a solid Conservative who, I believe, has the best chance & the support to FLIP this seat. Endorsed by Republican Party of OC (OCGOP), REFORM CA, and many others.
He is a former Mayor of Cerritos, retired 28 yr law-enforcement officer, running to unseat 1st term, D-Derek Tran. VO is a legal immigrant from Viet Nam. He does not believe “illegals” living here now, should be granted a “pathway to citizenship”. Instead, he says, they should go back, and apply legally. He supports the President Trump’s agenda, and stands for virtually all the values I list in my criteria section. He personally stated to me he is Pro-Life. VOTE for “CHUONG” VO !!!
OPPONENT: Please DO NOT VOTE for very liberal Democrat, DEREK TRAN. He is endorsed by a myriad of liberal groups/individuals, including abortion provider, Planned Parenthood.
US Rep 46th Dist
NOTE: District covers Santa Ana, Stanton, Anaheim, Orange, Fullerton, and Placentia.
Recommendation:
DAVID PAN (R)
COMMENTS: Republican, DAVID PAN, changed his party affiliation 2 yrs ago, after becoming disenchanted w/ the DEMOCRAT PARTY, especially in the areas of EDUCATION (he supports School Choice for Parents), Rising Crime/Lawlessness, and Democrat runaway Government spending. He strongly believes in Secure Borders. PAN is a FISCAL Conservative, but not a SOCIAL Conservative. But, PAN would be far better than Liberal Democrat incumbent, Lou Correa who is neither. Pan is the son of Taiwanese Immigrants, is very bright, w/degrees from Stanford & Columbia, and currently a professor at UC Irvine.
He is endorsed by Republican Party of OC, Conservative Patriots of OC, conservative CA Republican Assembly, and REFORM CA.
OPPONENT: Please DO NOT VOTE for very liberal Democrat, LOU CORREA. He is endorsed by tons of liberal groups/individuals, including Abortion provider, Planned Parenthood.
US Rep 47th Dist
NOTE: Newly-drawn 47th Congressional district. Includes full or portions of the communities of Aliso Viejo, Dana Point, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Woods, Lake Forest, and Tustin.
Recommendation:
JENNY RAE LE ROUX (R)
COMMENTS: Le Roux is a business owner, author, and strategic advisor w/ a BA in Economics, and an MBA from Columbia Business School. She has been involved in the energy and financial services industries. She is also the Executive Director of CAL DOGE, a group that works to root out waste, fraud, and abuse in CA that was launched in early 2026 by Republican gubernatorial candidate STEVE HILTON.
Le Roux has “political family ties”, in the fact that her 2nd cousin, ABIGAIL SPANBERGER is the progressive DEM “Governor of Virginia”! WHOA! However, Jenny Rae’s political ideology is polar opposite, a staunch Conservative Republican.
Endorsed by Republican Party of OC (OCGOP), REFORM CA, the OC Congress of Republicans, and CA Hispanic Republican Club. She is also endorsed by 5 Members of OC Board of Education, CA Attorney General Candidate, MICHAEL GATES, Assemblyman CARL DeMAIO, Governor candidate, STEVE HILTON, OC Supervisor, DON WAGNER, CA Senator, STEVEN CHOI, CA Senator, TONY STRICKLAND, CA Assembly members: DIANE DIXON, LAURIE DAVIES, JAMES GALLAGHER, HB City Councilwoman, GRACEY VAN DER MARK, Vice Mayor of Irvine, JAMES MAI, and my favorite pastor, PASTOR JACK HIBBS of Calvary Chapel, Chino Hills. We need this seat flipped.
OPPONENT: Please DO NOT VOTE for very liberal Democrat, first-term DAVE MIN, who rec’d a DUI conviction in 2023, but somehow still pulled off a win in ‘24. As part of his sentence, he was put on probation for 3 yrs, so still likely on probation. THIS SEAT IS FLIPPABLE! Vote JENNY RAE
US REP 48th Dist
Previously, this Congressional Dist was in OC, but with NEWSOM’S Redistricting, it now is entirely in San Diego County. Included here for continuity.
Recommendation:
JIM DESMOND (R)
COMMENTS: DESMOND is a U.S. Navy Veteran, Delta Air Lines pilot for 33 years, former Mayor of San Marcos, and current San Diego County Supervisor. Initially, he was going to run in Congressional Dist 49, which includes part of OC. However, after DARYL ISSA decided to retire from Congress, DESMOND chose to run for ISSA’s 48th seat instead, receiving ISSA’s endorsement. Desmond is also endorsed by the CA Republican Party, CA Republican Assembly, Reform CA, Lincoln Club of San Diejo, Riley Gaines (protect women in sports), Lantin American Political Ass of San Diego, Young Republican, Deputy Sheriffs Ass of San Diego, and Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Ass.
US Rep 49th Dist
NOTE: District is largely in San Diego Co. but also a few OC cities, ie, San Clemente, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, Capistrano Beach, and parts of Laguna Niguel.
Recommendation:
ARMEN KURDIAN (R)
COMMENTS: Kurdian is a retired U.S. Navy captain with 25 years of service, and has been senior systems engineer and vice president of operations at Mayflower Communications. Kurdian's campaign focuses on issues such as lowering living costs, supporting small businesses, and enhancing public safety. He is endorsed by CA Republican Party, CA Republican Assembly, Lincoln Club, Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Assoc, American Independent Party,
OPPONENT: Please DO NOT vote for DEM incumbent, Mike Levin, who is endorsed by the Democrat Party, abortion provider Planned Parenthood, Jane Fonda’s Climate PAC, “SHIFTY” Senator Adam Schiff, and a whole slew of other liberals. Levin has severe TDS, and opposes everything Trump supports.
CA STATE
GOVERNMENT
CA GOVERNOR
Recommendation:
STEVE HILTON(R)
COMMENTS: HILTON is the “COMMON SENSE” Governor we DESPERATELY need to lead CA, to get us out of NEWSOM mess of the last 8 yrs. It’s time for a change. Click Hilton’s site below for his CA Plan.
Our state has been ruined by the Democrat stronghold on leadership, including their insatiable “TAX & SPEND”, addiction, which is why so many are leaving. CA has the highest income tax rate in the nation. The highest statewide sales tax rate. The highest gas tax. Highest everything! Now, we are finding, we likely have the highest in Gov FRAUD & WASTE, too. A vote for Hilton’s opponent, would just be more of the same.
LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR
Recommendation:
GLORIA ROMERO(R)
COMMENTS: This is not a STRONG RECOMMENDATION, but ROMERO is definitely the better candidates. And she is on the STEVE HILTON “Golden Ticket” slate which helps provides visibility. Also, ROMERO has been in Sacramento and knows the legislative process well, to HELP HILTON. The rest of the slate along w/HILTON & ROMERO, is fabulous, that is, R-HERB MORGAN for Controller, and fabulous/outstanding/terrific, Michael Gates for Attorney General.
But, she is definitely better than her opponent, FIONA MA, the Democrat candidate. “WE NEED AN “R” HERE!”
SECRETARY OF STATE
CA Secretary of State is the chief elections officer, responsible for overseeing all federal and state elections, maintaining a database of registered voters, providing voters with information about ballot measures. The office also handles business licensing and filings.
NOTE: Since Republican have led efforts to create stricter voter ID measure, including requiring proof of citizenship, this race has gotten more contentious. A “VOTER ID” Prop is on this ballot too, and is expected to stimulate voter turnout.
Recommendation:
DON WAGNER (R)
COMMENTS: Republican Wagner, is current R-OC Supervisor, former Mayor of Irvine, and former CA Assemblyman. Wagner is a solid conservative, though some were disappointed he did not take more of a lead for Vote/Election integrity in OC, as a Supervisor. But conservatives were in the minority on the OC Board, so I cut Wagner some slack. However, in this position of SOS, he will have a REAL opportunity to “NOT DISAPPOINT” and solidify “ELECTION INTEGRITY” in CA. Republicans desperately need to flip this seat RED, to better oversee elections, and overcome the incompetence and partisan slant of DEM Shirley Weber.
WAGNER’S Endorsements are: CA Republican Party, Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association (protects Prop 13), and REFORM CA. Additionally, Wagner has a whole slew of current & former elected officials, including former Gov, Pete Wilson. More to follow.
OPPONENT: Please DO NOT VOTE for incumbent, tired (and needs to be “RETIRED”, 77 YR OLD”, SHIRLEY WEBER, who OPPOSES providing ID when voting, stating it “sow doubt in the integrity of the elections system”. Ah, YAH, and for good reason! CA Voter rolls are NOT KEPT CLEAN! She has also been criticized for how ballot initiatives are “TITLED”, misleading Voters, with a Liberal/Democratic slant. She’s highly guilty here, too. The wording used is a combination effort between the office of the CA Attorney General and the CA Sec of State, both are atrocious. Weber is extremely an liberal Democrat, endorsed by lots of liberal groups/individuals, including Abortion Provider, Planned Parenthood.
CONTROLLER
NOTE: The CA Controller serves as the chief fiscal officer, responsible for overseeing the state's financial resources, including accounting, disbursement of funds, and auditing government agencies. Additionally, the Controller administers unclaimed property laws and manages payroll for state employees.
Recommendation:
HERB MORGAN (R)
COMMENTS: MORGAN will be EXCELLENT! Has strong background in finance and public service, having nearly 4 decades of experience in financial markets, and a founder for Efficient Market Advisors, a notable investment firm. Morgan is running on the promise of exposing fraud in government at a time when the Trump administration also is leveling fraud accusations against California.
He is the first political candidate in U.S. history to publish every campaign financial transaction on a public blockchain - with daily verified updates that make each contribution and expense permanently visible to the public. “Politicians love to talk about transparency," said Morgan. “I'm actually doing it. Every dollar in and out of my campaign is recorded on-chain, permanently. This is the model for how I'll run the Controller's office." He plans to develop this same concept for the CONTROLLER’S office. (Exactly what CA needs!)
ENDORSEMENTS: CA Republican Party, CA Republican Assembly, Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association (protects Prop 13), Lincoln Clubs, CA Congress of Republicans, CA Rifle & Pistol Assoc, CA Unity Party, SD Young Republican, and a whole slew of known Elected and former Elected officials.
MORGAN’S OPPONENT: Please DO NOT VOTE for very liberal Democrat, MALIA COHEN. She is endorsed by lots of liberal groups/individuals, including Abortion Provider, Planned Parenthood.
TREASURER
NOTE: Treasurer is the state's chief banker and investment officer responsible for managing public funds, administers the sale of state bonds and notes, and pays out state funds when spent by the Controller and other state agencies.
Recommendation:
JENNIFER HAWKS
COMMENTS: Hawks is a retired business executive who believes the Treasurer's job is simple: “Take care of the people's money like it's your own”. Adding, “California’s fiscal challenges did not happen overnight. They are the result of years of decisions made without sufficient scrutiny or long-term discipline. . . . I believe the Treasurer has a responsibility to ask hard questions, follow the money, and provide clear answers to the public when something doesn’t add up.”
ENDORSEMENTS: CA Republican Party, CA Republic Assembly, REFORM CA, American Independent Party, Assemblyman Carl DeMaio, and many more.
OPPONENT: Eleni Kounalakis (D)
State Treasurer: Jennifer Hawks
ATTORNEY GENERAL
Recommendation:
MICHAEL GATES (R)
COMMENTS: MICHAEL GATES will make a FABULOUS CA Attorney General, as he has the necessary experience to do an EXCELLENT job! He is fiscally and socially Conservative.
BACKGROUND: Michael began law career in private practice, establishing himself as a trial attorney. Then, in 2014, Michael left private practice to serve as the elected City Attorney for Huntington Beach, a position he held for 10 yrs, winning re-elections in 2018, and 2022. Michael quickly built a record of success in HB for fighting crime & homelessness in Huntington Beach, and bad legislation from Sacramento. In 2025, he was called by the Trump Administration to the Dept of Justice (DOJ), where he was appointed Deputy Asst Attorney General in the Civil Rights Div, where he oversaw about 100 attorneys across Employment, Voting & Elections, Housing & Civil Enforcement, & Criminal sections. He left that job to run for this office, and return to CA, wife and 5 kids.
GROUPS: CA Republican Party, CA Republican Assembly, REFORM CA, Lincoln Club, American Independent Party, CA Parents Union, CA Rifle & Pistol Ass, Huntington Beach Police Officer’s Ass, Garden Grove Police Officer’s Ass, Westminster Police Officer’s Ass, Deputy Sheriffs' Ass of San Diego County, Newport Beach Police Ass, Pomona Police Officers' Ass, Simi Valley Police Officers' Ass, Sacramento Co Deputy Sheriffs' Ass, Bakersfield Police Officers' Ass, Sheriff's Employees' Benefit Ass of San Bernardino, The Israeli-American Civic Action Network (ICAN), Iranian-American Republican Council, California Hispanic Republican Club, Vietnamese-American Conservative Alliance (VACA), Silicon Valley Chinese Association, United Vietnamese American Community of No CA, San Diego Asian-Americans for Equality (SDAAE). This isn’t ALL, BUT ENOUGH.
INDIVIDUALS: PASTOR JACK HIBBS of Calvary Chino Hills, STEVE HILTON-Gov Candidate, DON BARNES-OC Sheriff, JON VOIGHT-actor, ALEX VILLANUEVA-Former LA Co Sheriff, STEVE GARVEY-former Dodger & former CA Senate Candidate, and virtually every elected Republican official in CA. Too many to list!
INSURANCE COMMISSIONER
NOTE: Commissioner oversees the CA Dept of Insurance. Agency is charged with licensing insurance companies and reviewing their financial statements, establishing rate regulations, investigating consumer complaints, and punishing insurers with fines or penalties for regulatory noncompliance.
Recommendation: NONE
Comments: Unfortunately, 2 Democrats (no “R”) advanced to the General Election. So sad, bc neither of the 2 have Insurance experience. Will research further to see if one tilts better than the other. If not, leave BLANK.
BOARD OF EQUALIZATION - 4TH DIST
(Covers counties of: Orange, Imperial, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego)
NOTE: What does this agency do? The CA State Board of Equalization (BOE) is responsible for overseeing property tax assessments, collecting excise taxes on alcoholic beverages, and administering the insurance tax program. It ensures that property tax assessments are uniform and fair across the state of California.
Recommendation:
DENIS BILODEAU (R)
COMMENTS: Denis Bilodeau is a fighter for taxpayers, and is Pres of the Orange Taxpayers Assoc. He has led efforts to hold government accountable, expose waste, and protect taxpayers' dollars. A graduate of UC Irvine, and a licensed Civil Engineer, he has served on City of Orange as Councilmember, and as President of Orange Co Water Dist.
Endorsed by the CA Republican Party. REFORM CA, Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Ass, and CA Senator-Tony Strickland, Assemblyman-Tri Ta, Assemblyman-Phillip Chen, Assemblyman-Carl DeMaio
CA SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION (also under “Schools”)
Recommendation:
SONJA SHAW (R)
COMMENTS: Starting out as “just a concerned mom” over her daughter’s education, it grew to a passion. Elected Chino Valley Unified School Board President in 2022, SHAW championed parental rights, winning landmark battles against Sacramento's extreme policies, including a lawsuit opposing Attorney General Rob Bonta. She strongly opposes Men in Women’s sports, which got her the support of Riley Gaines, Women's Sports Advocate. Also, endorsed by Governor Candidates, Sheriff Chad Bianco & Steve Hilton, the CA Republican Party, conservative CA Republican Assembly, Reform CA, Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association (protects Prop 13), the Lincoln Club, Moms for Liberty, and tons of elected conservative office holders throughout CA.
CA STATE SENATE

NOTE: Dist 30th district Is mostly in LA CO and includes Downey, Norwalk, Bellflower, La Mirada Santa Fe Springs, Montebello, Pico Rivera, Whittier, Hacienda Heights, La Puente, Valinda, Industry, Rowland Heights, Walnut, and Diamond Bar, but with just “a little bit” of NE Orange Co.
Recommendation:
ARACELI MARTINEZ (R)
COMMENTS: Businesswoman Martinez is a Republican, running an uphill campaign to unseat DEM, 2-Term Incumbent, Bob Archuleta. More to follow.
CA SENATE - 32nd DIST
NOTE: Includes cities of Temecula, Murrieta, Wildomar, Lake Elsinore, Canyon Lake, Menifee, Idyllwild, Yorba Linda, and Chino Hills, among others. So not much of district is in ORANGE CO!
Recommendation:
KELLY SEYARTO (R)

Includes the northern OC cities of Santa Ana, Anaheim, Placentia, Fullerton, Buena Park, La Habra and parts of Orange, and South Whittier in Los Angeles County.
Recommendation:
RHONDA SHADER (R)

ENDORSEMENTS: OC Republican Party, Los Angeles Republican Party, Reform CA, CA Women's Leadership Ass, CA Republican Assembly, CA College Republicans, Lincoln Club of Orange County, New Majority OC. CA SENATE - 38th DIST
NOTE: The map is this CA Senate Dist is atrociously drawn (after Prop 50) and covering about 1/3 of OC, and 2/3 in San Diego Co. Endorsed by OC Republican Party, Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Assoc, Reform CA, and every other respectable conservative endorser too many to list.

CA STATE ASSEMBLY - 67th Dist
(covers Anaheim, Buena Park, Cypress, Fullerton West, La Palma)
Recommendation:
PAULO MORALES (R)
COMMENTS: PAULO MORALES, is a newly registered Republican. A Democrat his whole life, but felt “the party left me”. He is a former Cypress Mayor and retired Cypress Police officer. According to a conservative voter/advisor from Cypress, Morales consistently voted w/other conservatives on Cypress City Council. I’m glad he finally found “his way” to R Party, and I appreciate the courage it took to leave the DEM party, recognizing how LEFT it has become.

Recommendation:
URSON RUSSELL (R)
COMMENTS: URSON will be TERRIFIC, solid Conservative. He is a businessman, the has built and led businesses in operations, logistics, production, sales, training, and team management. He describes himself as a “fanatic for common sense, equal justice, and accountability”. He believes government is simple: “take taxpayers funds, then the government delivers security, tranquility, general welfare, defense, and protection of unalienable rights—nothing more, nothing less. No excuses, no waste, no favoritism.” Urson stands with parents for informed consent and family authority in schools and healthcare. Recommendation:
DIANE DIXON (R)
COMMENTS: While this is considered a “Non-Partisan” office, Republican DIANE DIXON is the ONE NEEDED to “flip” this seat. She is currently a CA Assemblywoman (District 72), a former Newport Beach mayor and city councilmember, and a longtime business executive. She is endorsed by Republican Party of OC (OC GOP), conservative CA Republican Assembly, and everyone Conservative and Republican.
OPPONENT: Please DO NOT VOTE for extremely liberal Democrat, KATRINA FOLEY. She is endorsed by all liberal group/individuals, including abortion provider, Planned Parenthood.

CA SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTIONS (also under CA Government)
Recommendation:
SONJA SHAW (R)
COMMENTS: Shaw started out as a “concerned” mom over her daughter’s education, who got involved. Elected Chino Valley Unified School Board President in 2022, SHAW championed parental rights, winning landmark battles against Sacramento's extreme policies, including a lawsuit of Attorney General Rob Bonta’s. She is so worthy of your vote.

CA PROPOSITIONS
PROP 1: Housing BOND (w/deceptive title)
RECOMMENDATION: BIG FAT NO
COMMENTS: A BIG FAT NO, for lots of reasons:
1) MAIN REASON: PROP 1 is a “BOND”. That means, CA will BORROW (here, $11.25 BILLION) to fund this effort. CA is already “swimming in debt”, currently over $124 BILLION. CA cannot afford MORE debt, and cannot afford the interest on current debt. A bond is the most EXPENSIVE way to obtain funds DUE TO PAYING INTEREST. Just like you and me, CA “needs to live within our means”, and NOT BORROW. Our children, grands should NOT have to payoff this loan in 30 yrs for twice the amt borrowed. “NO” ON THIS BOND, and ALL BONDS.
2) DECEPTIVE PROP TITLING, throwing in “veterans” in title, to “soften hearts”, when in fact, VETERANS get only a small fraction.
3) PROP 1 won’t help w/ affordable housing. In fact, may increase prices bc developers (who will get rich w/this bond) would be required to use higher-priced union workers (85% of construction workers are non-union) making construction even MORE expensive. AND, nothing is in PROP 1 to stop “Red Tape” or regulations (which IS needed and WOULD help!).
PROP 2: Increases State’s Rainy Day Fund (FALSE title)
RECOMMENDATION: NO
COMMENTS: Prop 2 “CLAIMS” to create a bigger “Rainy Day” fund in CA budget. But, in reality, it creates a “new slush fund” for politicians to spend . Prop 2 would “gut” the current voter-imposed “spending limit” on CA politicians. And, worse, it would virtually eliminates the requirement that taxpayers receive tax rebates, if revenues exceed the spending limit. NO on PROP 2.
PROP 3: Makes PERMANENT a Temporary Income Tax Increase
RECOMMENDATION: NO
COMMENTS: There are 2 “TAX INCREASE” PROPS on ballot (Props 3 & 40), on both a “NO” is recommended. Biased title plays up funding for schools and health care without accountability for how the money is spent.
CA has the HIGHEST-in-the-nation INCOME TAX rates. PROP 3 would make a “temporary” tax increase (not even due to sunset til 2031), PERMANENT. This is at a time when CA is already losing EMPLOYERS, losing JOBS, & losing PEOPLE/TAXPAYERS, to other states. And, with them goes the CA revenue they generate. If more leave CA, esp high-income individuals, it will only exacerbates the cost-of-living crisis for Californians.
PROP 4: PUBLIC FINANCE OF CAMPAIGNS
RECOMMENDATION: NO
COMMENTS: PROP 4 Repeals a previous BAN on Public Financing of Political Campaigns. Voters wisely decided years ago that tax dollars should NEVER be used to fund the campaigns of politicians.
But with Prop 4, politicians are refusing to take “NO” for an answer. They tried to sneak this through the legislature in 2016. The courts threw it out, and ruled that voters must decide. 10 years later they’re back, asking to spend YOUR TAX DOLLARS (AGAIN!) on political campaigns. Tell them (AGAIN!) the same thing the courts did: “NO!”
PROP 5: CA EXECUTIVE STRUCTURE on RECALLS
RECOMMENDATION: NO
Under Prop 5, if the voters recall the Governor, you don’t get to choose the replacement — the office is automatically handed to the political machine’s second-in-command. The decision will be entirely out of the voters’ control.
PROP 37: $25 BILLION HOUSING *BOND
RECOMMENDATION: BIG FAT NO
COMMENTS: CA would “BORROW” up to $25 BILLION (w/a “B”) , and would turn around & “LOAN” these “BORROWED” funds to individuals in a Housing Down Payment Assistance program. While helping a homebuyer w/a down pmt is a “nice” idea, the Prop is INSANE and financially reckless for CA. CA has no business being a mortgage lender.
Per REFORM CALIFORNIA: “Provides taxpayer-funded subsidies to developers without reforming costly mandates that make housing so expensive. Worse, Prop 37 makes CA one of the biggest mortgage lenders in America overnight – and taxpayers are left holding the bag for any losses. Many of the boondoggle projects supported by this bond will cost more than $1M per unit! Campaign contributors to politicians also get special contracts under Prop 37.”
*A BOND means, CA will BORROW (here, $25 BILLION) to fund this effort. CA is already “swimming in debt”, currently over $124 BILLION. CA cannot afford MORE debt, and cannot afford interest on current debt.
PROP 38: IMMUNOLOGY RESEARCH BOND
(NOTE: “REFORM CALIFORNIA” & Carl DeMaio, has this one WRONG (IMO) on their VOTER GUIDE!)
RECOMMENDATION: NO
REASONS TO VOTE “NO”
1. BOND: It’s a $8.4 Billion 20yr BOND ! NO to ALL BONDS. CA cannot afford to BORROW. Cannot afford MORE debt service.
2. UNFAIR: Billionaire (Gary Michelson) is pushing PROP 38, which unfairly steers $4.2 billion to the institution HE CREATED for Immunology research.
3. Medicine/Science changes FREQUENTLY! “IMMUNOLOGY” may be “outdated” long before debt is paid in 20yrs.
4. PROPONENTS say it will “PAY FOR ITSELF” w/new immunology/meds royalties. That is speculative & risky! No guarantees! CA’s owns this DEBT!
PROP 39:REQUIRE VOTER ID when VOTING
RECOMMENDATION: YES, YES, YES, BIG FAT “YES”!
PROP 39 would require a government-issued ID for in-person voting. Or the last four digits of a government-issued ID number for mail-in voting. PLUS, would require election officials to maintain accurate voter registration lists, and use “BEST EFFORTS” to verify citizenship with government data. PURPOSE: To ensure that only eligible voters participate in elections. A COMMON SENSE initiative that is LONG OVERDUE !
BTW, CA DEMOCRAT PARTY is OPPOSING.
PROP 40: SO-CALLED “BILLIONAIRE” TAX, is REALLY an “EVERYBODY TAX”
RECOMMENDATION: BIG FAT “NO”
Prop 40 is deceptive, and first-in-the-nation “Wealth Tax”, being sold as the "Billionaire's Tax"! But BILLIONARES are just the initial “BAIT”! In reality, it is an "Everybody Tax!"
PROP 40 is a “permanent” Constitutional Amendment that contains wording that can be EXPANDED to extend to EVERYONE, “without another public vote!”
The “ONE-TIME TAX” collection WILL expire, but the SPENDING WON’T! When it runs out , it will need to be EXPANDED. No limits here.
This 1-time tax will do little to help CA. And will drive out CA’s wealthy, which CA needs for revenue. A study by Stanford University economists found the tax will cost CA $25 billion, as the tax drives companies and wealthy residents out-of-state. Exodus has already started. VOTE “NO” on Prop 40.
NOTE: PROP 41, 42, & 43 ARE KNOWN AS THE “TAXPAYER PROTECTION TRIO” - VOTE YES on ALL 3
PROP 41: REQUIRES AUDITS on ALL “SPECIAL TAXES”
RECOMMENDATION: YES
PROP 41: Makes it harder for CA Politicians to RAISE YOUR TAXES, requiring audits to prevent waste, fraud and abuse and diversion.
PROP 42: STOPS TAX on SAVINGS
RECOMMENDATION: BIG GIANT “YES”
Prop 42 would prohibit politicians from taxing the value of your ASSETS (like savings, checking, 401k, stocks, and current home equity in your home).
PROP 43: RESTORES 2/3 VOTE REQUIREMENT to RAISE TAXES (established under PROP 13)
RECOMMENDATION: YES
Under current law, local taxes that are used for a specific purpose (ie, “Special Taxes”) require a 2/3 vote to be approved. However, recent COURT DECISIONS have allowed tax increase that are “proposed by voters” to be approved with a majority vote. This closes that “loophole” and restores the 2/3 requirement, established w/Prop 13 , making it harder to raise your taxes.
PROP 44: IMPOSES COSTLY MANDATES on Community Health Clinics
RECOMMENDATION: NO
Federal Community Health Clinics serve underserved, lower income, often rural communities, and ARE NEEDED! With PROP 44, it would require 90% of revenue from clinics to go to health services (now 80%). Sounds good “on paper” but could result in closures, or prohibit needed services. PROP is “bankrolled” by healthcare unions, namely SEIU United Healthcare Workers West, who desire more members to join, and contribute to their union trust fund. VOTE NO!
PROP 45: CUT HOUSING COSTS BY CUTTING “RED TAPE”
RECOMMENDATION: YES
CA needs more affordable housing! But CA building projects are so expensive bc of the excessive delays for approvals. PROP 45 will greatly reduce “red tape” and create a faster project construction track, by relieving some of the “excessive” CEQA (environmental) delays. PROP also sets deadlines to “greenlight” building projects faster. Needed, and so overdue!
